INTERIOR KITCHEN IN PROVENCE STYLE (part 4)

CHOOSE FINISHES FOR SURFACES

To set the necessary style and direction for the interior, you need to choose the right finish. Consider the finish:

walls;
the ceiling;
gender.
WALLS

Considering the finishing materials for the walls, we can conclude that for the Provence style such options are suitable:

wallpaper;
painting;
plaster;
textile;
decorative panels.
It should be noted that wallpaper in this case is used extremely rarely, since more traditional design is simple painting and plastering. Nevertheless, with a small budget, you can consider the option with wallpaper. In this case, it is worth considering a few tips:

a longitudinal strip expands the space;
vertical lines will raise the ceiling higher;
for a small room, it is best to choose a small floral print of pale shades;
spacious rooms can be decorated with large and bright colors, but on the same wall.

If we are talking about a kitchen in a wooden house, then it is best to create an imitation of antiquity and open the logs with a protective varnish. Another solution for wall decoration will be decorating with wood panels, stone and ceramic mosaics. A brick wall can also be in good harmony with the Provence style, while the material should not be cleaned – the masonry should be rough and dirty (in moderation).

When choosing materials for decorating walls, it is necessary to take into account not only external signs (ornament, texture and color), but also their functionality. This is important, since the kitchen is the working area where food is prepared, which means that all elements will need to be periodically cleaned.

Note!
There is a special microclimate with constant temperature changes and high humidity. Under the influence of these “aggressors”, wall surfaces should not be damaged or deformed.

CEILING

Traditionally, the ceiling of the Provencal cuisine should have wooden beams that do not mask, but, on the contrary, beat. This solution is very beautiful, practical and versatile. Beams will not only be able to give the room an unusual appearance, but also become “helpers”: hooks are fixed on them for stirring dishes, spices, food and decorative elements. You can also mount spotlights in a tree and divide the room into several zones: dining room and for cooking.

If we are talking about an apartment, then you should not be upset, because today you can buy fake beams in the construction market. They are light and hollow, which allows you to hide inside the wire. You can install them yourself, without the involvement of specialists, which will significantly save the budget. It is also worth considering the possibility of decorating part of the ceiling, for example, above the working area.

Note!
If it is not possible to use beams, then prefer plastering or painting. The stretch ceiling in this case will be inappropriate.
