HOW TO CHOOSE A BAR CHAIR (part 1)

In modern interiors, it has become fashionable to install bar counters for zoning the space, which is especially true in studio apartments, where the dining area is combined with the living room. Of course, this is also a functional element with which you can save space, for example, in a one-room apartment, because the bar counter can replace a massive dining table. The problem is that the bar counter assumes the presence of bar stools, because this design is higher than the usual kitchen table and standard chairs are not suitable here. In this article we will talk about how to choose a bar stool.

DIFFERENCES

The bar stool differs from the usual one not only in height. He suggests:

smaller seat;
a small back or lack thereof;
the bandwagon.
Some bar stools have swivel seats.

HEIGHT SELECTION
This is one of the most important indicators on which the ease of use of a chair depends. Both bar counters and chairs can be of different heights, but there are certain standards. For example, bar counters most often have a height of either 1.1 m or 1.3 m. Bar stools 0.75–0.85 m high are suitable for them. If the bar counter is an extension of the countertop of the kitchen unit or is simply located on the same level as countertop, then the classic bar stools turn out to be too high. In this case, it is recommended to choose the so-called semi-bar stools, which are 12–20 cm lower than usual.

The ratio of the height of the bar and chair The ratio of the height of the bar and chair

If the bar counter is made to order and has a non-standard height, then you can very well calculate the necessary height of the bar stool. To do this, you just need to consider some rules:

the distance between the countertop of the bar and the seat of the bar stool should be 25–35 cm;
the footrest should be approximately 45 cm below the seat.
If you don’t feel like looking for bar stools for the required height for a long time, you can go the simpler way – purchase a bar stool with a height adjustment function. The design of such a chair is characterized by the presence of a lifting mechanism, which has the name of gas lift. In this case, you can adjust the height of the bar stool and choose the position at which it will be most convenient to sit at the bar.

Height adjustable with height adjustment

True, when buying a chair with a lifting mechanism, you should remember the rules for its operation:

The weight limit should be observed.
Only make adjustments when no one is sitting on the chair.
Note!
It is important to find out if the footrest can be adjusted in height, otherwise it can be uncomfortable to sit on a chair. Incidentally, it is better if it is made of wear-resistant material such as metal or metal and rubber.

DESIGN FEATURES

The bar stool can be with or without a back. If you value comfort above all, then choose a bar stool with a back, and even better with armrests. If space saving is above all, then pay attention to bar stools without a back – they can be pushed under the bar counter.

Note!
If it is very important to free up space, while no one is sitting at the bar, you can choose folding bar stools – they are even more compact when folded.

Note!
In order not to damage the floor covering from frequent pushing back and forth of the chair, it is necessary to choose bar stools with rubber or plastic caps on their legs.
