HOW TO INSTALL AN INTERROOM ARCH (part 1)
Do you want to plunge into the olden days by performing a retro-style repair? To do this, you need to connect a fantasy. Definitely need old and antique objects, but they must fit into the interior created under them, part of which is the doorway. If you do not transform it, then the whole style will not be felt, so we will tell you how to install an interior arch so that it is a beautiful addition, emphasized the style of the room.
An arch can be used not only to create a retro style, only in this case you need to choose its color and shape correctly so that it harmonizes with the room.
In the illustration you can see different arches, which differ not only in shape, but also in size. To make it more clear, we will consider in more detail the types of arches.
Classic. This type of arch can be found most often – it has the shape of a semicircle (without corners).
Modern. This is something between a classic and a portal. The transition is smooth. It is most often used in rooms with a low ceiling.
Portal. By and large, this is no longer an arch, but a frame of a rectangular doorway. It is found very infrequently, since it is not suitable for every style.
Romance. In this type of arches, only the corners are rounded. Used for wide doorways.
Trapezoid. The name speaks for itself, as it describes the shape of the arch. Not used for narrow doorways.
Ellipse. Very similar to the Art Nouveau arch, but has smooth transitions.
The halfark. Such an arch, on the one hand, is done in the style of a portal, and the second can be of any shape.
Having an idea of the shape of the arches, it remains to choose the most suitable option.
ASSEMBLY OF FACTORY ARCHES
For an example, we describe the process of assembling an arch from MDF Avanta-Classic.
In several places, the width and height of the doorway are measured. The minimum size is taken as a basis.
We take measurements We take measurements
By the same principle, the width of the opening is measured, only in this case the maximum indicator will be the main one.
For an opening with a width of not more than 80 cm, a depth of not more than 19 cm and a height of not more than 225 cm, you can use the standard, basic arch set.
At the first stage of assembly, arch arches are glued together using the dowels included in the kit.
At the ends of the arches of the arch, 2 holes are drilled. In one of the wings, you need to pour a couple of drops of PVA wood glue into these holes and insert dowels. The same thing is done with the second arch.
The same amount of glue is placed in the openings of another sash, and the sashes are joined. For a more reliable connection of parts, their ends can also be slightly coated with glue.
After waiting for the glue to dry, on the same principle, cornices are glued to the base of the arches.
Based on the greatest depth of the doorway, make markings on the plates of the internal filling, adding to the existing figure 10-12 mm. For example, if the depth of the doorway is 17 cm, then the width of the plate should be at least 18 cm.

A hacksaw with a small tooth is cut off too much. The laminated side should be on top.
A short plate is used to form an arch.
The plate is inserted into the arch, so that one of its edges is in the middle of the cornice groove, after which a mark is made at the second edge of the plate at the place where the middle of the cornice is on this side.
The plate is removed, a marking is made strictly at an angle of 90 °, and excess is sawed off.
The groove in the vault is filled with glue. A plate is inserted into it and its edges are aligned so that they are at the same level and in this position is left until the glue dries.

In a similar way, the second arch is glued to an existing structure.
The corners of the doorway should be closed with triangles of any solid material. The length of the leg of the triangle should be about 20 cm.
The finished arch is inserted into the doorway, lifted and fixed with a clamp. Her position must be checked by the building level.
The length of the cornice extension should be equal to the existing distance between the cornices, where it needs to be fixed by smearing the ends with glue. For a reliable connection, the cornices are attracted by a clamp.
The vaults in the opening are fixed with self-tapping screws or liquid nails.
It is convenient to note the required length of the clypeus in place, attaching it so that during installation the cut edge is from the bottom. Excess need to be sawed at a right angle.
