HOW TO INSTALL AN INTERROOM ARCH (part 3)
WORKING WITH HYPOSCARD
Before cutting blanks from a sheet of drywall, measure the width of the doorway. You also need to decide to what level the arch will be lowered, and what shape it will be. Next in order:
Consider an example. Let’s say the width of the aperture is 100 cm, the height is 200 cm, and the arch will be lowered by 30 cm, since it will not smoothly lower to the very end.
We will take into account the height of the tallest person in the family – 185 cm. It became clear that we will not be able to lower the arch strongly – a maximum of 10 cm.
We transfer these sizes to the sheet of drywall whose thickness is 12 mm.
Drawing Now we will draw an arch shape on one of the blanks. To do this, you can use the ready-made pattern or make markup in a simple way. To do this, you need a pencil and a thin cord, kapron thread, fishing line or something else. The bottom line is that in the middle of the workpiece (and further down) a line is drawn that will serve as the central point for drawing a semicircle. The less rounding you need, the further you need to step back from the top edge. At the ends of the rope 2 loops are made. A nail is inserted into the point marked on the line and a loop is thrown. A pencil is inserted into the loop of the second end of the rope and from edge to edge of the sheet, a semicircle is drawn, the thread is stretched. If the radius does not suit, then you can change the length of the thread, insert a pencil of a different color and apply a new markup.
Having achieved the desired result, these 2 blanks are cut from the sheet.
A drawn semicircle remained on one of the blanks. Using a jigsaw (or hand saw), a cut is performed, but not clearly along the line, but so that it remains on the workpiece.
The blanks are folded together and the cut-out part is outlined with a pencil so that the drawing is on the second blank.
In a similar way, a semicircle is cut from the second part, only now the cut is carried out clearly along the line.
From a drywall sheet with a thickness of 6.5 mm, cut off a strip 120 cm long (for the example we are considering), and several millimeters wider than the wall thickness.
If you want to immediately get the exact sheet size in length, you can take an aluminum wire and make an arch layout from it – the length of the wire will be the length of the drywall sheet.

On the inside, it should be punctured at half the thickness with a needle roller, moistened and laid face down on the stool so that the edges hang down and can fall under the weight of their own weight. To speed up the process, after a while a small load can be put on the hanging ends of the sheet.
You can use a thicker drywall, but then you need to make cuts on it from the inside, through which it will break during installation, but the outer layer will remain intact.
